A three member medical board conducted examination of NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon today, who has been arrested in connection with the Zirakpur drug haul, on the outskirts of Chandigarh last week.

A medical board was constituted on the orders of a local court and doctors conducted examination of the suspect, police said here.

The NRI's lawyer had requested the court to get Kahlon medically examined after he alleged that his client did not attempt to commit suicide and the injuries on his body were due to police torture.

After hearing the defence counsel's argument, the Judge ordered Kahlon's medical examination and submission of a copy of the medico-legal report to the court of area magistrate.

A doctor who was in medical board said, Kahlon did not say a single word about being tortured by the police and there were no serious injuries on his body.

When he was taken to the hospital today, he was feeling some pain. "He stayed around two hours in the hospital as the doctor concerned was busy in an operation. He was examined and advised some medicines," police said.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer said raids were being conducted to arrest Jagdish Singh Bhola, kingpin of the gang.

Fatehgarh Sahib SSP H S Mann said, Olympian Vijender Singh will be again questioned soon in connection with the case.

"The police will adopt legal procedure for his hair and blood samples," he added.

After the drug haul, Vijender and his sparring partner Ram Singh's name had cropped up in the case.
