A local court today sentenced a narcotics smuggler to 10 years of imprisonment.
A fine of Rs one lakh was also imposed on Karnail Singh.
Singh and Gurinderpal Sharma were arrested and five kg opium recovered from their car during a routine checking near Bhaironpur village on Fatehgarh Sahib-Chandigarh Road on August 4, 2010.
Sharma was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
