Drug peddler gets 10-yr RI

A drug peddler has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in a case registered against him in 2010.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Harpal Singh sentenced Aktar Singh and slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.

The convict, a resident of Rajiana village of Baghapurana Sub Division of the district, was arrested in December 2010 after police recovered 10 bags of poppy husk from him.

He will have to undergo two more years of imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
