An alleged drug peddler was arrested with three kilograms of poppy straw in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district on Saturday, police said.

Showket Ali, a resident of Dhanore T Morh, was arrested from Omara Morh Link Road following a tip-off, a police spokesperson said.

Three kilograms of poppy straw was seized from the accused and he was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, he added.

Ali is also wanted in another case related to the recovery of 1.9 kilograms of charas (a form of cannabis), the spokesperson said.

In this case, which was registered on April 19, three of Ali's associates -- Gurpreet Singh, Renu Devi and Laxmi Devi -- were arrested, he said.
