Drug peddler Patankar sent in judicial custody

A special NDPS court today remanded alleged drug peddler Shashikala alias Baby Patankar in judicial custody till May 20.

Patankar was arrested in connection with the recovery of 12 kgs of mephedrone from the cupboard of head constable Dharmaraj Kalokhe from Marine Drive police station in March.

The contraband had allegedly been handed over to Kalokhe by Patankar.

"Patankar has been sent to judicial custody till May 20," said her advocate N N Gawankar.

Apart from Patankar, police have so far arrested her son Satish and Kalokhe in connection with the case.

Kalokhe had been arrested on March 9 after 110 kgs of mephedrone, whose market value is pegged at several crores, was seized from his residence in a village in Satara district of Maharashtra.
 

The next day, 12 kgs of mephedrone was seized from his cupboard in Marine Drive police station, along with the cash worth Rs 30,000.

Kalokhe, booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, is in judicial custody.
