Drug smuggler arrested

Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested a drug smuggler, who had dispatched a huge consignment of cannabis to Dausa, from Chhattisgarh.

The accused, M Venugopal Rao, a resident of Odisha, was arrested yesterday in front of a hotel in Raipur by the team of ATS and Dausa police.

He was produced in a local court and will be taken to Jaipur, ADG-ATS Alok Tripathi said.

A cash of Rs 3.80 lakh were also recovered from his possession.

"The smuggler had sent around 20 quintals cannabis to Rajasthan in a truck which was caught by the ATS and Dausa police in February this year," he said.
