A couple was arrested for allegedly smuggling poppy husk near local judicial academy today.
Sakir Sekh and wife Noor Jahan, residents of Baltana in Mohali, were arrested with 147 kg poppy husk kept in their SUV during a checking, police said.
The couple has been involved in smuggling of the contraband for the last one year, and used bring it from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, and supply in different parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, police said.
Further interrogation is on to ascertain more details of the smuggling, police said.
