Drug trafficking racket busted

The Narcotics Control Bureau, eastern zone, has busted a city-based drug trafficking racket and seized a kilogram of charas, a senior official said.

The racket was busted following information provided by the arrests of five persons from the city, he said.

"Five gang members involved in trafficking were intercepted late last night and based on their information a sixth member of the gang was nabbed today morning," the official said.

During interrogation, t was found that the racket, operating from two flats in the city and one in Salt Lake, was functional in the state as well in the neighbouring states of Jharkhand, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh, he said adding that the source of the drug was from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.
 

"We have seized 1.1 kg of charas along with 13 mobiles and cash amounting to Rs 23,855 and bank account deposit slips along with one car," he said adding that the market value of the seized drugs was about Rs 9 lakh.
