Drugs gang led by CRPF man busted, Rs 2-cr brown sugar seized

An alleged inter-state narcotics gang, being run by a CRPF constable, was busted and around 1 kg brown sugar worth Rs 2 crore was seized in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district, police said.

On specific information, narcotic pushers were arrested from the Naila railway station of the district late last night, Janjgir-Champa Superintendent of Police Sheikh Arif Hussain told PTI.

They had allegedly arrived in Naila with 880 gm of brown sugar, valued at Rs 2 crore, to sell the contraband in and around the area, the SP said.

Those arrested were identified as Ajay Mahto (30), Chandan Gond (24), Kundan Mandal (22), Sandeep Paswan (23), Pawan Nonia (30) and Moolchand Shrivas (27), who are residents of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, he said.
 

Mahto, a CRPF constable posted at Jharkhand, is reportedly the mastermind of the gang, the SP said.

Those arrested were produced in the Jangir-Champa court which sent them to 14-day police remand today, he said.
