Drunk man tries to desecrate a holy book, arrested

A man was arrested today for allegedly trying to desecrate a holy book at a village near Kapurthala, police said.

The accused, identified as Balwinder Singh, entered a holy place in Kamrai village of Bholath near Kapurthala in an inebriated condition and created a nuisance, a senior police official said.

"The accused was caught by devotees before he could reach the holy book," Bholath DSP Lakhbir Singh said, adding he was arrested.
