Drunk men clash with policemen in Goa; four cops injured

A group of inebriated men clashed with a police team when the latter apprehended them for creating ruckus at a highway in Goa early Tuesday morning, a police official said.

Four policemen were injured in the incident that took place around 4 am near Cuncolim village in South Goa district, he said, adding that the accused also attacked a police van.

Two of the accused were arrested while five were absconding, the official said.

On getting information that some persons were creating disturbance on a highway near Cuncolim village since Monday midnight, a police team was sent to nab them, Superintendent of Police (South) Arvind Gawas told PTI.

 

When the police reached the spot, the accused, all of whom were drunk, manhandled the policemen, he said.

"Four policemen received minor injuries. The accused also attacked a police van present at the spot," he said.

Two of the accused have been arrested, the official said, adding that search was underway for five others who fled after the incident.
