Dry, cold weather in Himachal; Keylong shivers at -15 deg C

The weather remained dry and cold in Himachal Pradesh on Friday with popular tourist destinations Kufri and Manali recording minimum temperatures below the freezing point, the Meteorological Department said.

The minimum temperature in the state was 1 to 2 degrees Celsius below normal while the maximum was recorded 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal limits in the last 24 hours.

Tribal district Lahaul-Spiti's administrative centre Keylong was the coldest place in the state at minus 15 degrees Celsius, Shimla MeT centre Director Manmohan Singh said.

Kinnaur's Kalpa recorded a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Manali (minus 3.6) and Kufri (minus 1.8).

 

The minimum temperature in Dalhousie and Shimla was 0.8 and 4.5 degrees Celsius respectively, Singh said.

The highest temperature in the state was in Solan at 23 degrees Celsius, he said.

The MeT centre has forecast rain and snowfall in middle and high hills of the state for January 25 to 30, barring January 26.
