DSK Shivajians Football Club has appointed Barry Knowles as assistant manager who joins Dave Rogers' backroom staff to oversee the first team for all upcoming tournaments and the I-League.
The Englishman brings with him a wealth of coaching experience and his last job was at another Pune-based, club, Bharat FC, as technical director and he had assisted the club's first team in their maiden season in the I-League in 2014-15, a media release from the club said today.
Knowles' vast experience as a youth development coach spans across a host of English clubs which include Everton FC, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool FC.
Following his successful stint at Blackpool FC, he was recruited by the Football Association as their talent identification head where he also oversaw the development of players. He later worked as a player and team profiler for Sheffield Wednesday.
The Englishman then moved to the Indian sub-continent and joined Bharat FC, the release added.
