To ensure smooth operation of bus service and plug leakage of revenue through ticket-less travelling, Delhi Transport Corporation today launched a mass checking drive in the northern region of the city.

According to DTC, as many as 78 passengers were detected travelling without ticket during this two hours checking.

The drive was conducted in the morning from 8 AM to 10 AM. Officers including regional managers and depot managers were deployed at 38 different points to monitor the drive.

"During the course of checking, ticket-less travelling by commuters, travelling beyond destination, non-issue of tickets by conductors after collecting due fare, rash driving and improper parking of bus by drivers, non-stoppage of bus at proper bus stop, crew uniform etc, was checked," a senior official said.

The official also said that this will be a regular feature and such checking drives will be carried out periodically in other regions.
