DTC mechanic killed in road accident

A 26-year-old youth, who worked with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), was killed when the bike he was riding on was hit by an unknown vehicle near Akshardham Temple.

According to police, the incident was reported around 7.30 AM and the deceased was identified as Mohammad Islam who worked as a mechanic at DTC's Millennium Bus Depot.

Police said that the incident took place when Islam, a resident of Ghazipur, was going to work from his rented home. He reached near Mother Dairy underpass when his bike was suddenly hit by a heavy speeding vehicle from behind, police said.

Islam was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals, but he succumbed to injury during treatment, they said.
 

The victim's family stays in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district.

Police also said that the vehicle has not yet been identified.

The driver has not been arrested and further investigation is on, they said.
