After the administration cancelled its event at the last moment, the NSUI today accused the Delhi University (DU) officials of working at the behest of RSS-affiliated ABVP.
The Congress backed student wing claimed that despite having the permission to launch the University's first magazine, they weren't allowed to go ahead with the event.
"We had all permissions to hold the event at the conference hall of the University," National Students' Union Of India (NSUI) national in-charge Ruchi Gupta said.
However, today the University officials refused that they had given us the consent for the event, she added.
As a result, the NSUI was forced to hold the launch on the road with heavy police presence and barricading, she said further.
"This is all that #ABVPThugs are capable off. NSUI on the other hand wanted to launch DU's first magazine. Denied permission last minute because of #ABVPkaGundaraj, we had to launch on the street in the presence of police. DU #SendThemHome," she posted on Twitter.
Rebuffing the allegations, DUSU secretary and ABVP member Mahamedha Nagar said the NSUI had misused students' union funds for bringing out their own magazine.
Nagar contested NSUI's claim that the magazine launch was a DUSU initiative as being an office-bearer, she was not informed about the event.
The ABVP leader further said that all permissions granted to the then NSUI president Rocky Tuseed were cancelled after the Delhi High Court had upheld his disqualification on July 20.
Admitting that DUSU vice-president Kunal Sehrawat had applied for a permission again, Nagar clarified that it takes at least 15 to 20 days to grant a fresh approval.
