Delhi University today deferred the interview for selection of Controller of Examinations amid complaints against one of the candidates shortlisted for the post.

The Delhi University had been asked by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on May 11 to conduct an enquiry against Satish Kumar, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Examination, on a complaint.

A similar complaint was also sent to the Ministry of Finance that was further forwarded to MHRD.

Kumar was shortlisted for the post among others.

"The interviews which were supposed to be held today have been postponed. The new date will be announced soon," a senior varsity official said, without divulging further details.

Delhi University has gone on a hiring spree as the UGC had directed it not to make any appointments after July 28 as the tenure of its Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh ends three months from then.

The varsity's move to line up back-to-back interviews for important administrative positions within this week, has raised eyebrows with a section of teachers terming it an "unholy scramble" and demanding the President Pranab Mukherjee's intervention in the issue.

DU authorities, have however, denied any wrongdoings in the process saying "all rules are being followed".
