A day after some student activists began a relay hunger strike alleging that colleges were not properly implementing the policy of reservation in admissions, the varsity issued a notification to colleges.

Several students and teachers have complained lack of transparency in admissions of SC/ST students and irregularity in the process of admitting OBC students in some colleges.

"It has been brought to the notice of the University that the admissions under these categories are not in proportion with the actual intake of general category candidates," said the notification.

It said the candidates of reserved categories shall be admitted by the colleges in proportion with the actual intake of general category candidates, rather than being in proportion to the sanctioned strength.

The colleges have been asked to calculate vacant seats of SC/ST/OBC as per actual enrolled general category candidates as on July 31, 2012, and display vacancies by August 1.
