DU professor bags 'young scientist' award

A Delhi University professor has bagged a Young Chemistry Scientist Award for contributions in the area of heterogeneous catalysis.

The annual 'Dr Sistala Kameswari Young scientist award', which is presented by the Catalysis Society of India, has been conferred upon Dr Aiyyemperumal Sakhtivel, Assistant Professor in DU's Chemistry department, the varsity said in a statement here.

The award was given to Sakhtivel for research on heterogeneous catalysis, especially for the development of novel framework and non-framework composite materials, their application as catalysts and catalytic support, DU said.

The 40-year-old teacher is a doctorate from IIT-Mumbai and has worked with several reputed research institutes such as IAMS Academia Sinica in Taiwan, Fritz Haber Institut der MPG in Germany and GIFU University in Japan before returning to India.
 

He has about 65 publications in international journals to his credit.
