Delhi University's Miranda House has set up a centre for Northeast studies which will focus on scientific research and education outreach on various aspects of biodiversity and sustainable development in the region.

The centre, established in association with Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), was inaugurated by Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah today.

"The Centre will create a better research-based understanding of the ethos, challenges and opportunities in the Northeastern states in a culturally sensitive manner," Heptullah said.

According to the college authorities, the centre aims to conduct research projects with special emphasis on knowledge production in the form of multimedia documentation and publications thus impacting policies and development of the Northeast.
