In a hard-hitting letter to Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh, the Delhi University teachers Association has termed the recent announcements on proposed reforms as a "brazen violation" of the University's statutes and ordinances.

It said it is a matter of concern that the Vice Chancellor has "again rushed to the media with the announcement" while no concept/vision papers have been discussed in the Academic Council, nor have they been circulated in the Departments and Colleges.

"It does not augur well for the academic health of the University," it read.

The VC had announced before the beginning of this academic session that the varsity will begin a 'Four-Year Graduation Programme' from 2013.

The DUTA said such actions are "demoralising" for the teaching fraternity, and bring "incalculable damage" to the University's prestige and reputation and are destroying the academic environment of the DU.

It also slammed the vice chancellor for "consistently" refusing to engage with the teachers to sort out "these complications in a spirit of frank and healthy academic debate".

"Vide this letter, DUTA exhorts you to make a white/ concept/ vision paper available on your recently announced 'Four Year Graduation Programme'," it said.
