A District Co-operative Officer of Dumka block, Jitendra Kumar Verma, was today caught red-handed by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jharkhand while accepting bribe in Dumka district.
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB), Madhavram Bhargav, the ACB team of Dumka arrested Verma, who was also in-charge as Marketing Officer, Dumka, when he was accepting Rs 12,000 from Manoj Kumar Gupta, a transport agent, for clearing the outstanding bills of the latter, Bhargav told newsmen.
Gupta, who lifts foodgrains from FCI godown and delivers it to Public Distribution System dealers in the district, had registered a complaint with the ACB against Verma, who had been demanding a bribe to clear his outstanding bill of Rs 2.83 lakh.
The ACB team caught Verma red-handed as soon as he accepted the amount from Gupta in his residence in Kamlabagh Colony, Dumka in the morning.
