Duo arrested for robbery, carjacking

Two persons have been arrested for being allegedly involved in several robberies and carjacking incidents in the city and neighbouring Gurugram, police said today.

"The duo was chased down after they fired at the police team. They were arrested on March 27," Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West), said.

The culprits even tried to run over a beat officer who tried to stop them from fleeing in a stolen car, he said.

"During interrogation, the persons revealed about their involvement in many robberies in different parts of Delhi besides carjacking incidents in Gurugram," police said.

Arms and ammunition along with cash worth Rs 31.8 lakh in Indian Currency, and USD 870, 3,800 pounds, 3,850 euros (all valuing Rs 6.3 lakh) besides a gold chain were recovered from their possession, the officer added.
