Hamidul Sheikh and Mohd Nazibul Haque, both residents of West Bengal's Malda district, were arrested for allegedly smuggling and trafficking of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) at Moradabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh, CBI sources said.

The duo allegedly had fake currency in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500, and come to deliver it to a local.

After getting a tip-off, the CBI team laid a trap at the railway station.

When the duo showed up, the sleuths nabbed them with the fake currency and booked them under 489-B and 489-C of IPC which relate to use of forged or counterfeit currency-notes and punishment thereof.
