The government has suspended Durg district's Deputy Collector Siddharth Das under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal Rules), 1966, for violating the transfer order, sources said.

As per an order passed by the state government on July 24, 2012, Das was transferred as deputy collector of Jashpur district and was relieved from office at Durg on August 1.

However, neither he joined office at Jashpur, nor did he give any information to the district office for his absence, the sources said.

The state government considered this as a clear violation of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965.

During the suspension period, Das has been asked to report to the Divisional Commissioner headquarters at Bilaspur, sources added.
