Bestselling writer Durjoy Datta has come out with the first book in his new two-part romance series. The book is titled, "The Boy Who Loved".

"'The Boy Who Loved', first of a two-part romance, is warm and dark, edgy and quirky, wonderfully realistic and dangerously unreal," publishers Penguin Random House said in a statement.

The story sees the protagonist Raghu, despite several attempts, being drawn towards "a girl quite like him, yet so different".

Coming from a middle class family, with loving parents, an elder brother he looks up to and a dream to study in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Raghu's character likes to project his life as "nothing remarkable" and "normal".

"Deep down, however, the guilt of letting his closest friend drown in the school's swimming pool gnaws at him. And even as he punishes himself by hiding from the world and shying away from love and friendship, he feels drawn to the fascinating Brahmi.

"No matter how hard Raghu tries, he begins to care. Then life throws him into the deep end and he has to face his worst fears," the publishers said.

The narrative goes on to reveal if his love proves to be strong enough to pull him out.

Born in New Delhi, Datta completed a degree in engineering and business management before embarking on a writing career at the age of twenty one. He has penned several bestselling books including 'Of Course I Love You...', 'Now That You're Rich...', 'She Broke Up, I Didn't!' among others.
