The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) today approved construction of 5,012 housing units for people belonging to economically weaker section (EWS) at three locations in the city, and set aside Rs 654 crore for the project.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and was attended by Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain and other senior officers.
In the meeting, the DUSIB also ratified the decision of granting no objection certificate (NOC) and user permission for setting up of 50 mohalla clinics on its land in different Jhuggi Jhopari Rehabilitation (JJR) colonies.

An official said that all housing complexes for in-situ rehabilitation of urban slums in the city will be 14 storied each.
The Board will request the Delhi government to allocate Rs 500 crore as seed money for taking up the proposed projects.
Out of 5,012 housing units for the economically weaker section (EWS), 3,780 will be built at Pocket-F Bhalswa Jahangirpuri at a cost of Rs 493.40 crore while 784 housing units will come up at Dev Nagar Karol Bagh at a cost of Rs 102.28 crore.
Besides, 448 EWS housing units will be constructed at Kasturba Niketan Lajpat Nagar at an expense of Rs 58.65 crore.
The Board approved setting up of Early Childhood Care and Education Centre by allotting 10 Basti Vikas Kendras to Ambedkar University in association with Directorate of Higher Education.
The budget of DUSIB for the financial year 2017-18 was presented at Rs 381.47 core and approved Rs 165.72 crore for non-plan and Rs. 215.75 crore for plan budget.
The Board will undertake the execution of plan works to the tune of Rs 215.75 crores which include construction of jan suvidha complexes, environmental upgradation in urban slums and construction of night shelters.
