DUSU polls: 23 FIRs over defacement of public property

Twenty three FIRs have been registered against candidates and others affiliated to different students outfits for defacement of public property ahead of DUSU elections, police said today.

"A special drive was launched by police to crack down on those involved in defacement of public property.

"As many as 23 FIRs have been registered against individuals including those affiliated with the ABVP, NSUI, CYSS and Independent candidates contesting for forthcoming Delhi University Students Union(DUSU) election," said Vijay Singh, DCP of North West district police.

Large numbers of poster's were stuck on public property like metro pillars, flyover in the wake of forthcoming DUSU polls.
 

Police have requested students, groups and candidates not to indulge in sticking posters, installing hording and wall writing on public property as it is contravention to the Delhi Defacement Property Act, he added.
