Press Trust of India New Delhi

"The two Discoms of Delhi - BSES Rajdhani Power (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power (BYPL) - have been repeatedly requested by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to clear the outstandings immediately else face the non supply of power from its power stations," DVC said in a statement.

The two Discoms have been receiving power from DVC since April 2007 as per PPAs signed between them. In spite of constant persuation by DVC, they have not yet provided payment security mechanism in terms of the agreement, it said.

The amount due to be paid by BSES Rajdhani stands at about Rs 169 Crore while BSES Yamuna Power has a liability of about Rs 162 Crore, as on date, it said.

Keeping in mind the distress of people of NCT of Delhi in extreme hot summer, DVC is still supplying power, as per agreement, in spite of huge accumulation of dues.

However, if such situation prevails, DVC may be constrained to divert power allocated to these discoms to other places as both the companies are neither paying the current dues in full nor clearing the arrears, DVC said.
