The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) will waive 60 per cent of arrears on Jharkhand, which will benefit the state approximately Rs 1,200 crore.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Union Energy Minister Piyush Goyal and officials concerned in Delhi, an official release said here.
During the previous government, the DVC had on October 14 last year said it would not stop power supply to the state till March this year as the state government paid Rs 200 crore against its dues owed to the public sector.
In May last year, the DVC had threatened to reduce power supply to the Jharkhand Electricity Board due to non-payment of dues.
