Dy CM for setting up of 'light & sound' show on Dogra history

Instructing authorities to set up a thematic light and sound show on the history of Dogras, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh called for immediate completion of work on historic 'Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex' so that it could be opened for visitors soon.

"The ongoing restoration works at Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex in Jammu city should be expedited so that the complex can be opened for visitors soon," Singh said here while chairing a meeting to review the restoration works underway at the monument yesterday.

He said the works should be carried out keeping in view the historical importance of the monument.
 

He directed the Tourism Department to set up a thematic light and sound show on the history of Dogras in Gol Ghar area so that the visitors besides enjoying the show also can have the view of Bahu Fort, Mohmaya Temple and river Tawi.

During the meeting all the issues pertaining to the restoration works of the heritage complex were discussed and the Deputy CM was informed about the status of the ongoing works.

He also directed the agencies to complete the renovation works of Dogra museum on priority and instructed Archeological Survey of India to identify the defunct items which can be removed. He also asked them to identify places to install latest equipments, including air conditioners, luminary and public address system in the complex.

The Deputy CM directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to submit a DPR of proposed multi-tier parking at the complex so that the further formalities are initiated.

JMC was also asked to remove debris from the complex and to carry out a cleanliness drive to maintain the beauty of the place.

On the issue the coronation platform of then Dogra King in the central park of the complex, Singh said it should be renovated in its original form due to it's great historical importance.

Director Floriculture Ashok Kumar Gupta informed the Deputy CM that the fencing work was underway and out of four, three fountains have been repaired and the repair work of the last one is under process.
