Dy Commissioner kills former block development member in UP

A former block development committee member was today shot dead allegedly by a deputy commissioner of excise department over a property-related dispute in Aspur Devpura area here, police said.

Former BDC member Moti Lal Maurya (42) was shot in the head point blank range by deputy excise commissioner Jung Bahadur Singh, who is posted in Varanasi, in Sardoh village this morning, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Chaurasia said.

Maurya was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead, he said.

On the complaint of Maurya's family, an FIR has been lodged against Singh, his wife and daughter, the SP added.
