The Controller of Defence Accounts today launched an e-audit initiative for the air force, which was described as a "huge step" in the direction of enhancing transparency in its functioning.

The audit function of IAF's Integrated Material Management Online System (IMMOLS), which had hitherto not been digitised, was launched formally by Arvind Kaushal, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).

The digitisation of the audit function is a huge step in the direction of enhancing transparency and probity in various functions related to stores, financing and accounting of the logistics chain management system of the Indian Air Force, an official statement said.

The digitised system has now replaced the manual system of originating vouchers and sending them through mail to the CDA in Dehradun.

Now, the entire information and data required by these offices for audit would be made available on the digital medium at all times, it said.
