Scores of e-rickshaw drivers today staged a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding extension of registration dates of battery-operated rickshaws.
The protesters led by chairman of 'Battery-Rickshaw Sangh'- Jai Bhagwan Goyal also submitted a memorandum regarding their demand to Prime Minister Office, highlighting the hardships faced by e-rickshaw drivers in process of getting registration done in time.
"Copies of this memorandum which highlights the negligence of Transport department officials have also been sent to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Delhi Transport minister Gopal Rai. Just because of careless attitude of some officials, only a few old e-rickshaws have been registered so farm," Goyal said in a statement.
