External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today held talks with her Congolese counterpart Leonard She Okitundu and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties with the African nation.
Okitundu also handed over a letter by his President Joseph Kabila Kabange addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Strengthening our warm & friendly bilateral relations, EAM @SushmaSwaraj welcoming the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo Leonard She Okitundu to India. India was among the first countries to open a diplomatic mission in Kinshasa in 1962," Swaraj tweeted.
India has undertaken several developmental projects in Congo. The bilateral trade between the two sides was nearly USD 415 million in 2015-16, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
