A dust storm hit the national capital early today, killing an 18-year-old man and injuring 13 others, although the sun shone brightly the rest of the day with the maximum temperature settling at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
The Police Control Room (PCR) received 78 calls during the storm that started around 3 am.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, said a MeT department official.
The humidity oscillated between 67 and 23 per cent.
For tomorrow, the Met office has forecast partly cloudy skies along with the likelihood of rain and thundershowers with gusty winds towards evening and night.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 41 and 26 degrees respectively," the weatherman said.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for next 72 hours anticipating similar weather conditions across large parts of north India, including Delhi.
According to the warning bulletin issued in the morning, "Thunderstorm accompanied withgustywinds (with speed 50-70 kms) verylikely at isolatedplaces overJammu&Kashmir, HimachalPradesh,Uttarakhand,Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh."
The same predictions have been made for tomorrow at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana,Chandigarh,Delhi andUttarPradesh.
