Earthquake evacuation drill conducted in over 100 schools

The disaster management cell here today conductedan evacuation drill in over 100 schools in Gautam Budhha Nagar district simulating the aftermath of an earthquake of six on the Richter Scale on the 'same day, same time'.

Around 80,000 students, 6,500 teachers and staff participated in the mega drill. Volunteers of the disaster management cell and NDRF personnel were present during the drill.

Observers of NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) and NIDM (National Institute of Disaster Management) were also present.

"The Limca Book of Records has agreed to record this event," said Kr. Raka, Planning Specialist and head of the Disaster Management Authority, Noida.
 

The drill lasted for 45 minutes to one hour depending on the number of students in a particular school.
