Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today expressed happiness over the state being ranked No 1 among the states in ease of doing business.

The chief minister congratulated the officials who contributed to the achievement, a release from his office said.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have jointly dislodged Gujarat to emerge as the best states to do business in the country, according to a report by the World Bank and DIPP.

"We have reached top position this year from the 13th position last year due to the hard work put up by the employees besides simplified government policies. We must continue the spirit and offer better and quality services," the chief minister said.

Principal Secretary for Industries Arvind Kumar said the state has received nearly Rs 55,000-crore investment last year alone. "Our endeavour is to make the state No 1 destination for investments. Accordingly, we made systemic changes. It is not just ranking as such. We have approved 2,550 investment proposals in the last one year," Kumar told PTI.

"Though both AP and Telangana have got equal scores (98.78 per cent), AP's name has come first in the alphabetical order," Kumar added.

A few months ago, Telangana had filed a case against Andhra alleging plagiarism of its data put out for "ease of doing business". Telangana had alleged that AP had copied some designs and data from the websites.
