Aluminium prices drifted lower by 0.85 per cent to Rs 158.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their exposure, triggered by a fall in spot demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in May month declined by Rs 1.35, or 0.85 per cent to Rs 158.40 per kg in business turnover of 229 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contracts shed Rs 1.20, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 159.10 per kg in 6 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the spot market led to the slide in aluminium futures.
