Mentha oil prices softened by 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,210.10 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions, driven by easing demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October declined by Rs 7.10, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,210.10 per kg in business turnover of 23 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in September contracts shed Rs 7, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,196.90 per kg in 198 lots.

Analysts said offloading of position by participants owing to muted demand from consuming industries in the physical market against adequate stocks position on increased supplies from producing belts, mainly weighed on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
