East Bengal defeated Shillong Lajong FC through a first-half solitary goal in their last engagement of the Under-19 I-league at J R D Tata Sports Complex here today.
Shillong Lajong toiled hard for an equaliser after East Bengal striker Jiten Murmu put the team in lead on the 18th minute.
Jiten received a measured cross from right flank and sent in a powerful header, leaving rival custodian unmoved.

Shillong Lajong, who had six points from two wins and three losses (including this match), had a golden chance to score but the player shot wide off the target.
With this win, East Bengal accumulated 10 points from three wins, one loss and one draw and are certain to finish second behind Tata Football Academy (TFA), who have as many points from four matches including three wins and a draw with a match to go.
In another match, Sesa Goa would take on AIFF Navi Mumbai Academy in their last engagement of the tournament.
So far, both the teams with two wins and two losses have six points each.
