East Champaran today celebrated Radha Mohan Singh becoming the new Agriculture minister of the country with great zest.

Amid distribution of sweets and bursting crackers, locals at Singh's native Narha Panapur village in East Champaran district described the 64-year-old leader's elevation to become a minister as a victory for the region.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for including Singh in the Cabinet and choosing him as the Agriculture minister, a local BJP MLA Pramod Kumar said that the move would strengthen the bond between Gujarat and Champaran.

Former state Minister and secretary of Gandhi Sangrahlay Samiti Braj Kishore Singh said they have send an invitation to Radha Mohan Singh to make a early trip to Motihari for a public reception to be hosted in his honour.

An unsung worker of Jan Sangh and BJP all through his life, Singh finally got his reward for his years of toil finding a place in the Modi's team.

Singh won the recently-concluded elections from Purvi Champaran constituency to enter the Lower House of Parliament for the fifth time.
