Eastern Army Commander on three-day visit to North-East

To take stock of the security situation in the North-East, Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi is on a three-day visit to Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

The GOC-in-C Headquarters, Eastern Command, arrived in Guwahati yesterday where he was received at Borjhar Air Force Station by Lt Gen Sarath Chand, GOC 4 Corps, a Defence statement said today.

The Army Commander thereafter travelled to Raj Bhawan to meet Assam Governor P B Acharya and also met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at his residence.

The security situation in the state including the tasks undertaken by the Army were discussed in both the meetings, the statement said.
 

Bakshi then left for Shillong to meet the Air Force Commander at Eastern Air Command, it added.
