Hotels and bars in Pune can now remain open till 1.30 am, the city police today said.
This follows a government notification of August 1 which said that eateries and bars can remain open till 1.30 am in Pune and Nagpur cities.
Sunil Ramanand, joint commissioner of police, said the process to extend the closing time was underway for two years and the state Government had sought feedback from the police. "After receiving positive feedback from us, the notification was issued," he said.

The local hotels association welcomed the decision and said it would increase the business by 10 to 15 per cent. "It was our long-pending demand. People, especially IT professionals working in night shifts, will now have more options to satisfy hunger," said Ganesh Shetty, president of Pune Restaurants and Hoteliers Association.
In Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane the eateries are already allowed to operate till 1.30 am.
