EB honours veteran Olympian Ahmed Khan with 'Bharat Gourav'

The octogenarian, fondly called the 'magician' for his dribbling skills, was conferred the award and a cash prize of Rs two lakh by the West Bengal Governor, M K Narayanan, during the club's 93rd Foundation Day here.

East Bengal's Nigerian midfielder Penn Orji was awarded 'Golden Boot' for being the best footballer in the 2011-12 season, which saw the club finish as I-League runners up.

Former red and gold stars Santo Mitra, Prasanta Sinha and Ilyas Pasha were conferred the 'Lifetime Achievement' award, even as the former could not attend the programme.

Former referees Sumanta Ghosh and Sagar Sen were also felicitated on the occasion.
