: In an effort to prevent the possibility of inuundation during rains, steps are being taken to place electricity pillar boxes on streets at a higher pedestal, Electricity Minister Natham Viswanathan told the Assembly today.
Replying to CPI(M)) member A Soundararajan, who wanted steps to place pillar boxes on streets on a higher platform to prevent its inundation in case of flooding, Natham Viswanathan said steps were being taken in this regard.
"Steps are being taken to place the electricity pillar boxes on a higher pedestal on streets," he said.
Pillar boxes are part of the local electricity distribution network. Such boxes have fuses, cables, regulators among other things to facilitate electricity distribution to domestic and high tension power users.
