EC asks DM to submit report on scuffle

Election Commission today sought a detailed report from the district magistrate of Malda on the incident of a scuffle between Trinamool Congress leaders and the EC personnel when they were removing the party flags and festoons at Kaliachak in the district.

"The EC will take appropriate steps after it receives report from the DM," OSD in CEO's office Amit Roy Chowdhury told reporters here.

Local Trinamool Congress leaders had a scuffle with some Election Commission officials yesterday when they were removing flags and festoons of the ruling party from a private premises at Jadupur village in Kaliachak in Malda district.
 

The members of the election monitoring cell had gone to remove the flags and festoons after getting complaints from the house-owner that they were put up without his permission.

On April 10, two Election Commission personnel were beaten up when they were videographing a motor-bike rally of Trinamool at Manikchak in Malda district.
