EC directs officials to ensure free and fair polls in Raj

Election Commission today directed state officials to ensure free and fair elections in Rajasthan while keeping the poll process voter friendly.

Addressing a meeting of district election officers here, deputy election commissioners Vinod Zutshi and Sudhir Tripathi asked officials to conduct regular monitoring of election related work at their level and to identify sensitive areas besides completing their preparations well before time.

In the meeting to review preparedness of the upcoming Assembly polls, Zutshi directed officials to start district level call centres from July 3 for convenience of voters.

Besides, the deputy commissioner directed officials to complete first level testing of EVMs soon in the presence of representatives of political parties.
 

This process will be for the first time in the state.

Emphasising on the monitoring of election expenditure by candidates, Zutshi asked officials to arrange adequate staff for this purpose and also for making efforts to improve voter turnout in the upcoming election.

State Chief election officer, Ashok Jain and other district election officers were present in the meeting.
