Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy today said the Election Commission should have kept in mind the geography of the state while finalising dates of the assembly elections.

"It is the prerogative of the EC to decide when and how would polls be held and in how many phases. We have full faith on them. But we wanted to make it clear to them that they should have kept in mind the geography of the state," he told reporters after an all party meeting at the EC office here.

He said in some places of Kolkata polling would be held on one day and in other places on some other day which will create problems in poll campaigning.

The party have also asked the commission to inform them about the timing of voting.

West Bengal will have polls spread over six phases.
