The Election Commission today stalled the transfer of five District Collectors in Rajasthan where assembly elections are due later this year.

The Commission wrote to the state government that the transfer of five district magistrates initiated by it would not be carried out till the process of special summary revision of electoral rolls is underway.

The transfer of District Collectors was done by the state government in contravention of its own orders issued sometime ago that no official should be transferred in the state during the process of summary revision of rolls, the sources said.

The special summary revision of electoral rolls in the state started on July 3 and would be carried out till August 30.

The state government had issued orders of not transferring any official connected with revision of electoral rolls after the Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer had written to the state government for a special drive.
